Directing the spread, part 1

The story for this national mystery writer's convention coming to town came in as one long narrative. It was pretty bland. I worked closely with the designer to break the story apart and turn it into a fun charticle, using a Clue board game theme. The featured writers helped us out, by going by perfect Clue names like Mr. White and Mr. Hall. We worked toghether to change the Clue rooms to Denver areas, like the 16th Street Mall and the Stanley Hotel, creating an engaging, creative page for readers.

Reusable shopping bags were suddenly everywhere, so I collected a number of cool styles and worked closely with the photographer and designer to come up with a neat way to display them. After toying with the idea of putting them in trees, or bringing in branches, we came up with the clean, simple model hands. It could have gone creepy, but the photograper got it just right.
