I heart a great theme

I knew I had to use an election theme for this fall fashion preview (four years ago), and I love how it still would have held up this past election season. I came up with cliche politician photo-ops and turned them into cool fashion shots. I made "Vote for tweed" and "Mad for plaid" signs for the campaign shot, got the head of the Denver ski train to pose as a Secret Service agent (doesn't he look like Kevin Costner in The Bodyguard!?) and even found a baby to be kissed. I set up shots at a local news channel to host our "debate," got use of a private jet to show our First Gentleman and Madam President and we flipped some pancakes. Another extreme, two-day shoot. I also designed these pages.

My favorite Denver band is Dressy Bessy, and as soon as I saw all the mod fashions coming down the NY runways, I knew they'd star in my fall fashion shoot. The band was great and spent two long days running around town with us. We had screaming fan extras, a VW bug and a national MAC makeup artist from San Francisco on our multiple sets (all for free, of course...Newspaper budget). I also designed these pages.
